SCHEDULE AT A GLANCE

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 2

• SIA & MHA individual Board Meetings in the afternoon
• public pre-event at the Seaman Mineral Museum, Michigan Technological Univeristy.
  • The museum will stay open late and a public talk about 7pm in association with the Quincy Mine’s “Talks on the Hill” (but in this case the other hill) with reception.

THURSDAY, JUNE 3

• Pre-conference tours*
  • Iron mining and processing in Marquette/Ishpeming/Negaunee
    (note, this one is a 200+ miles round trip on chartered bus, so it will leave very early and be back rather late, but we will try to time it to get you to the reception!)
  • Cliff Mine Scramble: this will be an offroad hike up and into the Cliff Mine area (no adits, sorry), so bring your hiking boots.

• SIA-MHA Welcome Reception & Presentation, Quincy Mine Hoist
• Birds-of-a-Feather Sessions
  • These are informal get togethers for people that share a common interest, such as bridges, iron, coal, railroads, museums, etc.

FRIDAY, JUNE 4

• Choose one of four all-day bus tours
  • North
  • Southwest
  • Southeast
  • Space and High Tech
• Dinner on your own
  • But the conference team is working on some informal programming either at the Dee Stadium in Houghton (birthplace of professional hockey!), and/or would welcome you to our favorite waterfront hangout in Hancock (a 15 minute walk across the bridge) at Small Craft

SATURDAY, JUNE 50

• SIA-MHA joint all day paper sessions & exhibits on the Michigan Tech campus
• SIA & MHA Annual Business Meetings & Luncheons
  • Parallel but separate business meetings will be held in the Memorial Union Building on campus
• SIA&MHA Joint Banquet at the Bonfire at the Continental Fire Co.*

SUNDAY, JUNE 6

• Working on a Post-conference cruise*
